National Summer Institution on Addictions 2010

The 2010 National Summer Institute on Addictions (NSI) marked the sixth event organized and co-hosted by the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse (CCSA) and the Addiction Research Centre (ARC) of Correctional Service Canada. The 2010 theme, Building Bridges: Justice, Addictions and Mental Health, explored assessment, treatment and aftercare in the contexts of offenders, women, First Nations and concurrent disorders.

The roster of esteemed speakers was led by Dr. Carlo DiClemente, co-creator of the transtheoretical model of change. Read more about the NSI speakers and presentations. You can also review the NSI 2010 Program Guide and the NSI 2010 registration form.

In addition to presentations by keynote and panel speakers, the NSI 2010 offered four workshops per day, providing participants with the opportunity to engage and interact on a variety of pertinent topics.

The NSI has a history of combining professional development with fun. Opportunities to learn while laughing included a scavenger hunt, a traditional Prince Edward Island kitchen party and Last One Standing, a review of the Institute in game-show format. Read more about informal learning at NSI.

The National Summer Institute continues to be a valuable opportunity to learn from the best in a relaxed and intimate setting while connecting with other professionals in a meaningful way. Read participant testimonials from NSI 2010.
